Hair: Black
Appearance: Human! Dark skin, dark hair (which doesn't look too different from his normal tentacles, actually), dark eyes with a bit of an epicanthic fold. He can shift into the form of a gray squidrat, so will occasionally manifest gray skin/tentacles.
Personality: A lot more practiced at social skills than Akin, and a lot less alien. While Akin groks humans in ways none of the other half-humans before he did, Ari is human so has a native understanding of ideas like ‘follow the leader’. Also, rather interested in girls, like many straight fifteen year old boys (which he would retain in Sabra except for the whole ‘can’t act on it without the third sex present’). Also a lot more of a wiseass.
Abilities: Shapeshifter! Very skilled, in that he can pretty much hold partial form and even control what parts of his body are shifted. Has some untrained magic towards plants and animals that mostly just manifests as 'animals like him'. Does not have the crazy set of senses that he has in canon, nor the sting, and has normal strength/stamina/healing ability.
Backstory: The foundling discovered as an infant at an oasis (and considered lucky to not be eaten), Ari was considered a blessing from the gods as he was found after his sept’s headman and his wife had been trying for years to have a child. Ari was not what might be expected as a leader’s son, being small, but a fast talker and genuinely social. However, both his adoptive parents were intelligent and socially gifted individuals who encouraged this gift (while despairing that a smart kid gets into more trouble).
Shifters were less common among Ari’s adoptive family, and his parents suspected their son of having some untapped nature magic, so he was sent to another sept to be trained as a shaman. His natural affinities were with animals, though it remains to be seen if he could adapt his magical gifts to people.
Other Tidbits:
• The Senmurv clan is loosely modeled after Phoenix village in Akin's canon. So war refugees from another country that went native and intermarried with the local Canim enough to be a clan in their own right, but low on native magic and high on unexpected fertility defects. Ari's adoptive parents are modeled after Gabe and Tate (unless I get a better idea).
